The city’s first nonprofit, community-supported digital news organization was founded on a mission to change the face of journalism with an innovative model for reliable, truthful news. The Wichita Beacon is run by and for Wichitans and strives to be their trusted source for unbiased, independent local news.

BRICKMOB

Brickmob lives and breathes the conscientious maker movement, empowering civic pride at events, festivals, and public art projects. From epic murals to the backs of Wichitans, their urban art and apparel is hand-crafted using eco-friendly techniques and locally owned supplies whenever possible.

HUMANKIND MINISTRIES

HumanKind Ministries provide 360º services to those experiencing homelessness or poverty in Sedgwick County. From emergency shelters and life-skills training to long-term housing and more, they focus on basic needs, human empowerment and community development.

JENNY DAWN CELLARS

What began as the dream of an at-home winemaker has grown into Wichita’s first urban winery. Located in the heart of downtown Wichita in Union Station, Jenny Dawn Cellars winery and tasting room offers 14 handcrafted wines bottled on-site, with grapes and juice sourced from the finest growers in California and Kansas.

LEAGUE 42

Named in honor of Jackie Robinson, League 42 is a youth baseball league comprised primarily of urban children ages 5 - 14. It was founded in July 2013, to fill a void so that Wichita’s urban children could have an opportunity to play baseball without the exorbitant costs of playing in organized or even recreational leagues.
