Sometimes business as usual means doing something completely unusual. For RedGuard, that meant restructuring their entire business to respond to a need.
OPPORTUNITY HAS AN
EXPIRATION DATE.
What began as a portable storage company evolved into a blast-resistant building company in 2005 when a tragic explosion at a petroleum plant killed 15 people and injured more than 100. Suddenly, there was a need: oil refineries and chemical plants began searching out facilities that could protect their employees from blast zones. Jeff Lange’s portable storage company, A Box 4 U, was positioned to respond and changed its focus, its name and, gradually, its employee count from 37 to nearly 225 today.
“The primary reason was probably our innovation, our aggressiveness to seize the opportunity. We have great people. We empower those people to make decisions and drive towards these opportunities that we see.”
– Jeff Lange
But even in the midst of great change within the company, one quality remained firm: a commitment to customer service based on the simple philosophy of just doing the right thing. It was the summation of the many traditions and values that Jeff learned while growing up on his family’s farm – the core principles that helped to build the foundation of RedGuard’s approach to every interaction with a customer.
As with every business, difficult years have been a part of the company’s history. But thanks to relationships that were built on those same values and traditions, help was accessible – primarily in the form of capital to keep growing. It was the support RedGuard needed to rise to the top of their industry; allowing them to continue building their fleet while many competitors were unable to endure the tough times.
“Customer service is an absolute here within RedGuard. We’ve always been about what we call service, service, service. We deliver on time. We do what we say we’re going to do.”
– Jeff Lange
Today, success is business as usual at RedGuard. The company’s current fleet outnumbers all of their competitors combined and Jeff predicts that in the next ten years they will grow nearly eight times larger than they are today.
That’s exactly the type of business we’re happy to have as part of the Wichita community, as well as a customer here at Fidelity Bank – a business built by people who not only embrace change, but also turn it into an opportunity for even greater success.
